Looking for that healthy, radiant glow? Facials are a popular way to keep your skin looking its best. They combine the latest skincare science with a touch of pampering, making them a great addition to your routine.

Many different facials promise glowing skin, but which is truly the best? That all depends on your skin type, goals, and expectations

What Is a Facial?

A facial is a multi-step facial skin treatment that typically includes cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and moisturization. It also often includes a face massage and mask to enhance the benefits.

A facial can promote a well-hydrated and smooth complexion that radiates health and can be customized to target specific skin concerns, such as acne, aging, or dryness.

What Skin Concerns Can Facials Address?

Facials offer a targeted approach to address various concerns:

  • Breakouts: If you struggle with acne, facials can help control pesky pimples and prevent future breakouts.
  • Dryness: A facial can deliver deep hydration to tight and uncomfortable skin, leaving your face soft and supple.
  • Aging: If you want to combat the signs of aging, facials can minimize fine lines and wrinkles and promote a more youthful appearance.
  • Uneven skin tone: Looking for a brighter, more even complexion? Facials can address hyperpigmentation and leave your skin looking radiant.

Spa vs. Medical Facials

Medical-grade facials can offer more dramatic results. They often use stronger, prescription-grade products and may incorporate advanced treatments like chemical peels or microdermabrasion.

Spa facials focus more on creating a relaxing experience and helping maintain healthy skin and typically use gentler products.

At Southwood Aesthetics, we use clinic-grade solutions that reach deeper into the skin and can target:

  • Sun damage
  • Pigmentation
  • Discolouration
  • Acne scars
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Texture

Whether you are dealing with pesky breakouts, dried skin, or fine lines and wrinkles, a facial can help tackle these issues head-on.

We offer several facials that can help you achieve glowing skin:

  • Hydrating facials: These treatments restore moisture and plumpness to dry skin for a youthful result.
  • Anti-aging facials: These treatments combat fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity for natural radiance.
  • Acne-fighting facials: These treatments help clear blemishes and prevent future breakouts.
  • Brightening facials: These treatments can even out skin tone and provide a radiant complexion after one visit.
  • Soothing facials: These treatments calm and soothe sensitive skin affected by allergies, rashes, and more.
  • Customizable facials: Combine elements from different treatments to create a personalized experience.

Preparing for a Facial

To prepare for a professional facial, avoid wearing makeup beforehand and cleanse your face thoroughly. It is also important to communicate any skin concerns or allergies with your esthetician before the treatment begins.

During the facial, you can expect gentle exfoliation, steam, extractions (if needed), massage, and a mask customized for your specific skin type and needs.

Aftercare

Taking care of your skin after a facial is just as important as the treatment itself. To maintain results and prolong the effects of the facial, drink plenty of water, moisturize regularly, and wear sunscreen daily. It’s also important to continue following a good skincare routine at home using products recommended by your esthetician.
